Why Should You Try Maca Coffee?
Posted by The Maca Team on 31st Aug 2023
It’s officially pumpkin spice season!
Even if temperatures continue to soar, men and women across the US are celebrating the opportunity to don flannel and instagram themselves enjoying their favorite pumpkin spice beverages. But how much is too much? Beverages purchased from commercial coffee vendors are often loaded with sugar and preservatives, which is probably why they taste so good. That doesn’t make them good for you, though. In fact, too many caffeinated beverages can have some serious negative effects on your health. No need to worry, though - we can recommend a healthier but no less delicious alternative to your morning latte.
What's Wrong with Coffee?
Nothing, really. Like any food, moderation is key. Unfortunately, many societies across the world have come to view being overworked and overextended as just a way of life. It seems like everybody from schoolchildren to CEOs is stressed out. So what do you do when you’re hard at work at your second job with hours left on the clock?
You have another cup of coffee, of course.
The Mayo Clinic explains that up to 400 milligrams of caffeine a day is safe for most healthy adults. That makes for about four cups of coffee, though they urge consumers to keep in mind that it’s hard to know exactly how much caffeine may be in a caffeinated beverage. And they’re also quick to outline some of the negative side effects of consuming too much caffeine, which include headaches, insomnia, irritability, and even elevated heart rate. In other words, you might have more to worry about than the coffee jitters.
Why Switch to Maca?
We’ve gone into some detail in the past of what exactly “maca coffee” is, and whether or not it’s really better than coffee. There are all kinds of coffee substitutes out there, if you’re intent on snubbing decaf. What makes maca a solid candidate?
To start, let’s look at a few of maca’s reported benefits. For centuries, consumers of maca from maca root’s native growing grounds in the Peruvian Andes to modern-day U.S. fitness fiends have turned to this cruciferous vegetable for energy, stamina, and focus. Sound familiar? Maca root powder can offer the same perks, with a lower likelihood of caffeine’s negative outcomes like lost sleep, increased anxiety, and jitteriness.
If you’re brewing your own espresso at home, you probably know exactly what goes into the pot. Many coffee blends may contain sweeteners and flavoring agents, though. We always stress the importance of knowing what’s in your food, and your coffee is no exception. That’s one reason we’re so transparent about what’s in our maca products: and for most of them, that’s just pure organic maca root powder.
Our Morning Motivator Blend
If you’re eyeing the word “blend” a little suspiciously, we can’t blame you - after all, we just talked about the various sweetening and flavoring additives in some store-bought coffee grounds. Our transparency extends to our Morning Motivator coffee substitute.
We offer two formulations, sweetened and unsweetened, and both contain only organic, all-natural ingredients like raw cacao, raw coconut sugar, and of course, our heritage harvest tri-color maca powder.
