Where to Buy the Best Maca Powder

Posted by The Maca Team on 19th Sep 2023

As word of maca powder’s reported health benefits becomes more common knowledge, more sellers of maca products are appearing in the health food marketplace. As with any health food “trend,” there’s always some manufacturer out there looking to make an easy dollar, resulting in some less than scrupulous standards and practices. It’s essential that you do your research before ingesting something new, knowing where it comes from and how it’s made.

The Maca Team's Maca

All of our maca products start in the same place: the Junin River Plateau in the Peruvian Andes. This is where maca originates, harvested by locals for hundreds of years for its numerous associated benefits: higher energy, improved mental clarity and focus, and increased fertility. Today, maca root is such a valuable cultural and economic commodity that the Peruvian government has banned the export of whole maca plants as well as roots and seeds. So we’ve partnered with a local co-op of farmers who use traditional growing methods that allow the ground time to rest and replenish.

Harvested at the peak of the season, our organic maca root is certified Fair Trade and non-GMO. It undergoes minimal processing before being shipped to us in small batches that allow for us to ensure that our customers are getting the freshest maca possible. For the most part, that means our maca roots are sorted by color - red, black and yellow - before being sun dried and ground into powder for export. It’s a simple procedure, very nearly the same the original farmers of maca root would have used, and we think that’s one of the best things about it.

When you’re buying maca powder from The Maca Team, that’s all you’re getting - pure, unadulterated maca root with no fillers or additives. But that’s not all you can find at TheMacaTeam.com

Maca Capsules and Liquid Extracts

Buying maca powder by the bag is the most straightforward and affordable way to enjoy your maca. Once you have an idea of your ideal serving size, keeping in mind that you want to start small, it’s as simple as mixing a couple teaspoons in with your morning beverage or post-workout smoothie. That said, traveling with maca powder can be a little inconvenient, not to mention messy. Luckily, you can get the nutritional content and perks of our maca powder in two other formulations: our vegan maca capsules, and our liquid maca extract.

You can keep up with your maca regimen conveniently while you’re on the road. Take a few capsules (depending on your serving size!) or a couple droppersful of liquid maca extract to get the same benefits you would enjoy from our bag powdered maca. That’s because both the capsules and liquid extract contain just the same thing: 100% organic maca root.

If you’re not a particular fan of the taste of maca powder or don’t quite have the time for weighing and mixing in the morning, just grab and go with either of these products. You can even find capsule or bottled versions of our premium maca, which has been dried in low-temperature dehydrators immediately after harvesting, resulting in more glucosinolates (anti-inflammatory/cancer-fighting metabolites).

We even offer the closest thing to whole maca root you’ll find on the market, maca root chips. These chips are basically just whole maca root cut into smaller chunks, which makes them ideal for dishes like porridges and stews. More Maca Products

Like we said earlier, most of our maca products are just that - maca. But we have a few exceptions we think you might like to try. Our Morning Motivator Maca Coffee, for example, is a healthy coffee substitute made with only a few organic ingredients. With a dedicated maca routine, you can get the energy you need to keep you going through the day without the caffeine jitters.

There’s also Maca Blue, a superfood blend containing tri-color maca powder and blue spirulina powder. You can get the benefits of all three maca root colors in addition to the positive health impact of blue spirulina, which is associated with immune system stimulation and more. These two functional foods come together to make for a fun, healthy mix you’re sure to appreciate.
