Get Summer-Ready With Maca
Posted by The Maca Team on 3rd Jun 2024
Summer is here, and there’s a lot you need to keep in mind whether you’re hitting the trails or lounging on the beach all day. It’s the time of year to come together with friends and family for fun in the sun, and there are a few things you should keep in mind for your health and safety. Sunscreen is a must, and we can’t stress enough the importance of staying hydrated.
So what does it mean to be “summer-ready?” It’s not just about fitting into last year’s bikini - every body is a beach body! But if you’re planning to engage in strenuous outdoor activities or even just spend a lot of time in the sun, it’s important to make sure you’re energized and ready for the exertion. Steer clear of sugary drinks that will only dehydrate you further and stick to nutritious foods and beverages that will keep you on your feet no matter what the day brings.
Here’s why maca should be on the menu!
Maca for Stamina
It’s the busiest time of year for state and national parks, with families taking advantage of the time free from school and work to explore the country’s natural wonders. Or you might be jet-setting to some exotic new location halfway across the world. Whether you’re visiting Yosemite or Brazil, make sure you’ve got the stamina to stay on your feet with maca root.
While maca is best known for improving fertility, it’s also been celebrated in its native Peruvian Andes for boosting energy and endurance. Maca for energy is one common association, attracting interest from consumers looking for a solution to chronic fatigue and overall exhaustion. If maca could fuel Incan warriors preparing for battle, what can it do for your average beach bum?
Maca for Weight Loss
If you’ve made any effort to change your health habits in the past decade, you’ve probably encountered all kinds of fad diets - low-carb, no-carb, keto, intermittent fasting, all of it touted as the latest and greatest way to “burn fat FAST!”
Well, maca isn’t one of those things. Simply adding maca to your diet won’t help you lose weight - it should be part of a healthy diet and active lifestyle. The good news is that maca is…well, healthy. And with its aforementioned energy-enhancing qualities, it can help you find the drive you need to tone in time to hit the beach.
Studies have found that maca can increase endurance capacity and act as a natural stimulant. How exactly it does this is still subject to some debate, but it’s believed that maca’s antioxidative qualities can cut down on the oxidative stress and lactic acid buildup that takes place during hard exercise. If you’re dedicated to getting in shape, whether that means losing weight or building muscle, consider adding maca to your diet.
